Burgers are always a crowd pleaser and these are perfect if you’re like me and don’t know how to use a grill.  I’m sure I could learn, but that’s Josh’s thing.  He knows better than to get all up in my kitchen.  I’ll let him keep the grill. 🙂

The first time I made these, I made two pans for 4th of July.  They were a hit!  Aunt Susie said they were almost like little meatloaf sammies.

I decided to make them again for Trick-or-Treat since all the grandparents were joining us.  For both events, these were particularly nice because I made the pan ahead of time and just popped them in the oven a little before we were ready to eat.

The Barefoot Contessa has mentioned taking the stress out of entertaining by doing as much as you can ahead of time.  I agree with her and though this recipe may not be as sophisticated as something you might see on her show, I bet she would like them! 😉

We waited to put our costumes on until after we ate dinner.  We can be a little messy sometimes.

Tasting some of the loot!

When we got home, Danny continued his nap while Oz tasted some of his loot!

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds extra lean ground beef
  • small onion, diced
  • ¼ c seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 t Montreal steak seasoning
  • 6 slices cheese of choice
  • 1 package dinner or slider rolls
  • ketchup and mustard or other condiments of choice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  2. Combine all ingredients except rolls and cheese.
  3. Press evenly into a 9×13 baking dish.
  4. Bake approximately 30 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. Place cheese on top and bake another 3-5 minutes until cheese is melted.
  6. Use the cheese slices as a guide to cut the meat into even size sliders.
  7. Place each slider on a bun and top with condiments of your choice!

Here are some ideas to get your “kid cook” involved with this recipe:

  • Have him help get ingredients (other than ground beef) into the bowl.
  • Allow him to carefully place the cheese on top.
  • Ask him how many sliders this will make.  Let him come up with how to figure it out.  If he needs help, give him a hint by telling him to count the rolls!
