Don't worry, this didn't go to waste. Ozzy finished it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 c hulled strawberries
  • 1 c blueberries
  • 2 bananas
  • ½ c quick oats
  • handful of ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Wash the berries.
  2. Put all ingredients in a blender.
  3. Blend until smooth.

Here are some ideas to get your “kid cook” involved with this recipe:

  • She can wash the blueberries by standing on a chair and using a colander.
  • Have her peel the bananas.
  • Ask her how many ice cubes she thinks you can fit in your hand.  Ask her if she thinks she can fit more or less in hers and why.  Talk about estimation.
  • She can push the blender buttons!
I love that he has a smoothie mustache AND it's on his forehead, too!

Have you ever tried using greek yogurt in yours? I usually use vanilla or plain (if plain then add honey to the mix). You and Oz should come strawberry picking with us next summer…I froze all of mine to use in my smoothies throughout the winter. There’s nothing better than home grown Ohio strawberries!! Smoothies are so yummy and easy!! 🙂

I’ve used yogurt a time or two but don’t always have it on hand. Yesterday we just threw together what we had and came up with this which was really yummy! Strawberry picking sounds fun! We’re in!
